7/27/2022 Project Update
Assistant VPR Melissa Emery Thompson will lead a (virtual) hands-on workshop on creating a proposal in Streamlyne Tuesday, August 9, 9am-11 am. We will be focusing on using the system to create proposals that do NOT go through grants.gov, such as proposals to NSF, state of NM, foundations, etc. We will focus on proposals that are submitted through grants.gov (i.e., NIH, DOE) at a later date.
This workshop is open to anyone who has responsibility for creating proposal records (currently CayuseSP) or who simply wants to learn how to do it.
As part of the workshop, we will be breaking into smaller groups for guided practice in Streamlyne. Please RSVP at the link below so we know how many breakout rooms we will need. We will provide info for a “fake” proposal or you can bring one that you have submitted previously to use in the practice session.

We will send out more information prior to the meeting, but feel free to send any questions to assocvpr@unm.edu.
6/15/2022 Project Update
Streamlyne IRB is fully implemented. New protocols and amendments have been submitted successfully! There have been a few instances of graduate students losing access as their status changes with the semester; IT is working to develop a solution. In the meantime, IRB staff can restore access for individuals who experience this issue. The tip sheets and videos on the IRB Streamlyne website ( https://irb.unm.edu/streamlyne/index.html) are proving to be extremely helpful for users.
Configuration work on the other modules—Proposal Development, Award, and COI—continues. A group of OSP and Faculty Research Development Office (FRDO) staff have been working diligently to learn and test functionality of the system and to identify modifications that will improve the user experience. We are on schedule for these modules to “go-live” in September and are working on a plan for a smooth transition from Cayuse to Streamlyne. Note that both systems will be available for a period to ensure we do not lose capability to submit proposals during the transition period.
Assistant VPR Melissa Emery Thompson demonstrated creating a proposal to the National Science Foundation in Streamlyne at the June Research Administrators Network (RAN) meeting. While the appearance and navigation of Streamlyne differs from Cayuse, the data to be entered and the process for submitting proposals is very similar to our current state for proposals that are not submitted through grants.gov. Proposals that use the system-to-system (S2S) process with grants.gov are more complex and will be the focus of future sessions. Beginning this month, Dr. Thompson will be holding in-person training opportunities for staff. If you are interested in attending training sessions, use the “Contact Us” form on this website to let us know. In July, a schedule of training opportunities will be developed.

undefinedundefined
undefinedundefined
2/15/2022 – Project Status Update
undefinedundefinedThe UNM project team has been working diligently through several areas of the Streamlyne implementation project. The following is a high level view of the status for each area.
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedProposal Development (PD) Moduleundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
undefinedundefined- undefinedundefined
- The PD working sessions are winding down with system configurations and data loads nearing completion. undefinedundefined
- Streamlyne demonstrated features of the Contracts Negotiation module; the UNM team is discussing how it can be used most effectively. undefinedundefined
- UNM team members continue to test the UNM configuration (CONFIG) environment and provide feedback to Streamlyne. undefinedundefined
undefinedundefinedAwards Module undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
undefinedundefinedWorking sessions will begin for this module as soon as PD sessions are complete.
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedIRB Moduleundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
undefinedundefined- undefinedundefined
- The IRB module will be the first module to “go live” in May. undefinedundefined
- Working sessions with Streamlyne have been very productive in making configuration decisions for the IRB module. undefinedundefined
- The integration of CITI with the CONFIG environment is moving forward as planned. undefinedundefined undefinedundefined
- Legacy data export from IRBNet to Streamlyne is also moving forward. undefinedundefined
- IRB is firming up Communication, Testing, and Training Plans in preparation for the May launch. undefinedundefined
undefinedundefinedCOI Moduleundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
undefinedundefinedCOI’s weekly working sessions with Streamlyne will begin in April.
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedExport Control Moduleundefinedundefined undefinedundefined
undefinedundefinedThe UNM team will meet with Streamlyne later in February to discuss the timeline for launching the Export Control module.
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedReporting Moduleundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
undefinedundefinedThis month Streamlyne gave a demonstration of the Reporting Module to the project team. There are 116 “out of the box” reports which can be edited and exported to a spreadsheet for further manipulation.
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedOther Updatesundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
undefinedundefinedAfter the current state gathering from all research areas was completed, the process steps are now included in a fit-gap analysis which is used to show the similarities or differences between how work is currently being performed and how it will be performed in Streamlyne. Once gaps are logged from this analysis, an action or solution can be determined and implemented to close those gaps.
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
1/17/2022 – Project Status Update
undefinedundefinedA lot has happened in the last few months! Streamlyne has been working closely with the research project team to understand UNM’s needs, as well as to familiarize the team with the product’s functionality.
undefinedundefinedThrough weekly working sessions, the project team has worked with Streamlyne personnel to identify and load data in the configuration environment. Data uploads include people sponsors, organizations, protocols, and different types of attachments. This allows the project team to begin testing two of Streamlyne’s modules, Proposal Development (PD) and IRB.
undefinedundefinedA sub-team has been identified to investigate and test the many reports available in Streamlyne’s reporting environment. They will compare Streamlyne’s out-of-the-box reports to existing reports, and identify any that need customization.
undefinedundefinedAn important phase of this project is current state gathering-capturing high level processes from each research unit. This allows UNM to identify processes that are currently manual, key components of the relevant systems are in use (i.e. Cayuse, Banner, etc.), and current reporting needs. Once the processes have been inventoried and workflows created, the next step is to identify the future state, moving from current systems to Streamlyne and identify any gaps that may exist.
undefinedundefinedIn the next few months, UNM’s project team will be busy testing Streamlyne’s functionality, continuing to load and import data, and creating a robust training process for all users. Please submit any questions you have about the Streamlyne project to undefinedundefinedContact Us/Feedback. undefinedundefined
undefinedundefinedThank you!
